Bookclub No. 37 Bruce Chatwin “On The Black Hill”

You wonder, reading On The Black Hill, if you, by mistake, have picked up the wrong book, a Thomas Hardy novel or at least something from the 18th or 19th century. But then the story of twins Lewis and Benjamin Jones starts with the dawn of the 20th century – so it’s really just the setting of a secluded Welsh farm, their refusal to let the modern times in and Chatwin’s classical style, that makes the novel seem so out of time, so timeless. I’m enjoying it, hope so do you!
