This weekend we do justice to our name and double our existense! The dear people of St. Pauli Restaurant will offer us a spot in their beautiful place for the Hechtfest. We’ll have a cake stall inside and hope to see you there. Or here, at the world famous Martin-Luther-building site, which is actually not that bad at all. I just imagine it all as a beach scene, so bring your volleyballs!

Just when I thought the worst is over, they took our footpath away. But fear not, the way to good cake is still open, just a bit more tricky to reach!

Last chance tomorrow morning to have some tasty breakfast at the shoppe, as we will take a break from 11th to 22nd August.
Back on the 23rd, relaxed and inspired and our tummies full of fish.

Regular opening times over the next two weeks! See you!
In den nächsten zwei Wochen haben wir regulär geöffnet! Wir sehen uns!

Okay, okay, this book is a recommendation of a friend who
1. never ever recommended something I didn’t cherish and
2. persisted on reading it in the book club for eons, so
3. now, it’s been made into a film and we don’t want to fall into the trap of watching before reading, hence
4. the book is now available, ordered and on it’s way.

I’m not going to tell you what the film is called, just that the director of ‘Amelie’ made it and, well, I’m not a huge fan.
The title reminds instantly of one of those 18th century great thinker pamphlets, which are published as Oxford Classics and take up half your bookshelf space. But whilst it is beautifully written, it is rather like a picture or scrap book with lots of references and drawings on the side. This needs some getting used to, but I was instantly hooked which is good news to people who have to suffer my constant ranting.
So, if you like maps or the drawing of maps, you will like T.S. Spivet, who is only 12 years old but a genius …

Join the book club anytime (you don’t need to sign anywhere, not to worry!), we are always glad to make new acquaintances & you can buy the book in the shoppe with a 10% discount!
