Just two years after Prince Albert introduced the Christmas tree to Britain and the country was swept by a newly sparked wave of interest in Christmas traditions, Dickens wrote his novel about the cold as ice Ebenezer Scrooge. The old Scrooge is visited by ghosts after his business partner, “dead as a doornail” Marley, warns him to change his ways.
As it is this time of year again, believe it or not, we decided to read this classic in a beautifully illustrated version by PJ Lynch. Everybody will contribute to this months session with a small delicacy typical of their country of origin and hell, am I looking forward to this proper Austrian Strudel-dough! This time it isn’t wine, but egg-nog … cheers!

When I look into the soup pan today it is of a colour that sums up this glorious autumn: golden and creamy pumpkin & carrot soup with homemade croûtons. If you don’t hurry, I will have eaten it all by myself!

This weeks soup from the new Jamie Oliver cookbook: “Mighty Mulligatawny” – thankfully I have a dear Irish regular, with whom I practised the pronounciation today!
