This is going to be a longer announcement about opening times and such. This week already, is it true (?!), BRN craze is taking place all around us. That is why we open only Wednesday and Thursday (11.+12.6.) and then go right into hot baking! So please swing by any time over the weekend to get some Pimm’s Punch and other goodies.
Sleepless nights on another matter: starting from 16th June, the whole of Lutherplatz will get a big makeover. This means roadworks, dirt and noise and I don’t know yet how bad it is going to be.
From 17th June until 20th June we will stay closed (open on 21st & 22nd June). What happens after that, I will have to decide on short notice. Obviously I will try to open over weekends and would be ever so glad if you are going through this with us. The Bauamt said it will take three months, so if the shoppe survives, October will be the golden horizon I kind of cling onto. For now, enjoy that crazy weather and get some Ice Tea on the way!

Back in the times of me attending a bookclub in England (like a hundred years ago), I did come across Mr O’Brien with his strange sounding book “At-Swim-Two-Birds”. I don’t quite remember why I only read the first few pages, maybe because my English was still in the state of very superficial acknowledgement of literature or I just didn’t like the look of the book (that happens often and tells you something about me and my prejudices).
But NOW comes my second chance.
“An Exegesis Of Squalor” (subtitle) sounds rather disheartening, but apparently Flann O’Brien is known as one of the greatest Irish wits and this bookhz seems to be a great combination of heartbreak and comedy (oh, how I love the Irish!).

Unfortunately this time you have to organise the book yourselves, as I can’t get hold of it from my distributor. Good luck!

Update: Dear bookclub goers – I need to change the date of our gathering from the 8th of July to the 15th July, I’m really sorry! Hope you can make it anyway?!
